Life really is what we choose to make it; here's to seeing the silver linings and looking at the sunsets as well as the sunrises! Working to connect with other artists as a way to keep positive despite health challenges.
So who am I?...
the soul of a poet, a singer...a painter.
Then it all came together in a new medium photography.
Almost four years ago I borrowed a little camera from a friend's daughter. It was
incredible, as if a light turned on in my head. Suddenly, I ran around mesmerized by a
fresh perspective of beauty, dancing in excitement, capturing the peace, serenity and
power of the ocean at sunset. The way raindrops sparkle on a branch, the effect of soft
caressing shadows on the faces of children my children as they play. It all brought new
meaning to life.
Talk about being inspired! It is amazing the way colors contrast or
naturally come together. The way sunsets blend to create impressions like nothing else.
Providing the exact representation of true lighting, the actual hues of the sunrise, sunset
or reflections like glass on the water is one way I work to give testimony to the Greatest
Artist, our Creator.
It is so much better without manipulating the images on the
computer, not 'enhancing' them or changing what seems to be there. Just capturing the
gift were given; a smile, a tender moment of honesty or love, caught unexpectedly offers
immeasurable rewards.
As a writer this unbridled enthusiasm seems to tumble out, falling all over in a jumble of
words and silly excitement splatting in shades of smoky plum and soft Tuscan yellow. The Greek roots of the word photography translate as "writing with light." Welcome to my portfolio--a place where writing and photography meet, and grow into something more personal. Where the love of light- of inspiration- is celebrated.
Now my work has expanded to include not only still photography, but something more
serious in videography with documentary work on social issues. I'm working with a new
group of friends in a wonderful nonprofit, StreetReach NW, serving the homeless in
Vancouver and Portland.
So artistically, this has been a growing time not only in my
work but as a person. Doing something important. Enjoy the presentation!
Thank You for letting me share~
